Status:
Accepted

Starting with one commit from one developer, the Cesium community has grown to 60+ contributors and 800+ forum members who have built countless Cesium apps in markets as diverse as Smart Cities, Federal Geoportals, Defense, and Entertainment.

This talk presents actionable advice on how to start and grow an open-source project based on our experience with Cesium.

How do you grow the user community? How do you grow the contributor community? Why do users become contributors? What keeps contributors engaged? How does software design impact contribution? How hard is it to get a CLA signed? How do you facilitate an active and useful forum?

How did documentation, social media, conferences, transparency, and luck play a role in Cesium? What mistakes did we make?
